Gudmar, our founder, has been trekking with his clients in Iceland for over 10 years. He has trekked all over the country with various trekking outfitters. Over the years, he learned the do’s and don’ts of trekking in Iceland, so you don’t have to.
Instead of categorizing our tours by destination, they are based on rider ability -- Ultimate Trekking Adventure, Intermediate Trekking Adventure, and Relax and Ride.
The differences between the tours are the length of the rides, the difficulty of the terrain and whether or not we’re traveling with a herd. These factors change the dynamics quite a bit, and we offer tours for all levels of riders.
Perhaps what’s most important – and what makes riding with us in Iceland different than the rest – are our tours’ similarities:
Good, quality horses
Professional and local riders as guides (Gudmar and Linda, his sister)
Small group sizes (12-15 riders max)
You’re paired with a horse based on your abilities and preferences
Comfortable lodging that you return to every night for a hot shower, delicious dinner and soak in the hot tub.
At the beginning of each tour, we allow some time for you to get to know your horse. We start in the indoor arena and warm up with some trail rides around the farm before starting each tour.
Lastly, we will have enough guides on each trek to ensure that clients don’t have to worry about managing the herd, although those who wish to participate sure are welcome to. There will always be guides designated to take care of the herd and another who remains with the riders.
